chip accents are all the new rage on the scrapbook chats, layout sites
and message boards right now. Scrappers are using them on zippy personal
layouts, greeting cards, colorful tag art, altered books and even on stunning
page kits they sell on ebay! But a serious concern with those hardware
paint strips is that they are printed on acidic papers. The grade of hardware
store chip paper used may yellow over time. Want that cool look with no
worries?
Well, PM designs has come up with a great solution. Paint Stripz! Now we can have the funky look of paint sample strips and rest assured that they are acid free and safe for scrapbooking use. Better yet, they come in long 12-inch strips which we can cut and shape as we like for more versatility! Are you curious about this new sensation? Do you wonder what to do with a paint strip? How can we creatively use this colorful item on pages? Let's talk about Paint Stripz! What is a Paint
Stripz Border? How would I use
them? Make faces: Paint Stripz come in many varieties of skin tones and make wonderfully diverse Punch art faces! This is a great resource for layouts where you want ethnic variety. This would be a great school border or teacher's page. Cut them in strips: Create monochromatic strips by cutting or tearing a longer paint chip strip in half. Now you have two strips with those same colors! You can weave several of them into a mat or simply use them as is.
Cut them apart: You can cut the colored sections apart and use the resulting pieces independently much as you would any squares or rectangles. Color block with your Paint Stripz. You can also, of course, punch squares or circles from them too. Use the separated pieces in a row to get a rainbow effect or create any geometric shape in a layout to add color here and there.
Use them whole: Use a Paint Stripz as a border or use it to mat around a photo or page accent, underlay a serendipity square, or add color to a greeting card as a side border. Trim the two corners off the top and add a small hole punch and you have a nice long tag.
Add writing: Add a quote, journaling, dates, or other wording with a Slick Writer pen. Rub ons and sticker letters also work wonderfully with these long borders. Place the wording horizontally across the whole border or place one small word inside each colored rectangle for added impact. You can also journal on vellum and use the vellum as an overlay, and the Stripz colors will still show through.
